NITRIDING SECTION

Electric steel furnaces revamping to fit out a nitriding section for decarburizing continuous lines. The system feeds, in a safe and controlled manner,
a flow of pure ammonia gas inside and along the furnace treatment section where it is mixed, before the introduction, with nitrogen and hydrogen.
The injection of the mixed gases is carried out by a number of mixing and injection devices, MID, each having a couple of manifolds, made in nickel superalloy, inside the furnace. They are spaced on top and under the strip in order to allow a uniform distribution of the fluid.

The injected gas flow is a function of operating parameter of the line, like the expected content of Nitrogen on the strip surface and the velocity of the line.
The relationship between gas distribution strategy, gas flow and strip velocity are freely adjustable by H.M.I..
At the extremities of the nitriding section, atmosphere separators are provided, which avoid the gas migration into other section of the furnace.

Process temperature:             up to 1.050 °C
Strip width:                                 1.060 mm
Strip thickness:                         0,3 mm
Strip velocity:                             up to 90 m/min
